Debutant Nurul Syafiqah Vows To Give Her Best In London

SEPANG, July 17 (Bernama) -- National elite women archer Nurul Syafiqah Hashim vowed to give her best performance despite making her maiden appearance at the London Olympics which starts at the end of the month.

The archer from Terengganu however, admitted being under a little pressure to exhibit her best, because the world's best archers and fans would be paying attention to archery events, which would be the curtain raiser for the Games on July 27, the same date as the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

"The pressure is there because we will perform on the first day of the Olympics but I will try to absorb the pressure so that I will not freeze during the competition.

"For me, although the focus of Malaysians will be on archery on July 27, I promise to give my best," she told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), here, before leaving to London Tuesday night.

Also leaving to London tonight were the national archery squad, including chief coach Lee Jae Hyung, sailor Khairul Nizam Afendy and his father-cum-national sailing team manager Mohd Afendy Abdullah.
